In the 70’s and 80’s, Montreal’s music scene was influential and known for shaping the Jazz and Disco era. This is where tapped-in drummer Terry Martell developed his notable style. Terry’s career was propelled within the Montreal Jazz scene while backing such pop artists as Aldo Nova, on the top ten hit record “Life is Just a Fantasy”, Juno award Winner/Best New Male Vocalist Walter Rossi on “Six Strings Nine Lives”, and Disco star Gino Soccio on “Outline”.
Throughout the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000 Terry’s live Funk, Rock, and Pop performances could be seen in New York, Ontario, and throughout Eastern Canada. These on stage performances were complimented by a long list of recording successes with stars like Busta Jones and Jerry Harrison from the “Talking Heads”, Capital Record artist Sheri Kean, “People Talk”, Beyond Seven with Gord Deppe from the “Spoons”, Academy Award Nominated Film Hardwood, and toured with The Knockouts.
Never skipping a beat, he continues his music success recording jingles with Michael Zweig, CD’s for various artists, and still performs each week with Chuck Jackson and The Allstars, and The Meteors. Highlights of Terry’s groove are seen at the Mississauga South Side Shuffle main stage with artists like Clarence “Frogman” Henry, The Three Tenors, Jimmy Cavalo, Johnny Pannino, and Pat Carey.
Terry is excited to be the backbone of the The Fabulous Knockouts again.
